In the framework of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, teachers are placed at the centre of educational transformation. The policy declares them as the backbone of the education system, recognizing their indispensable role in shaping not only the intellectual capacity of learners but also their ethical, cultural, and civic orientations. By situating teachers as nation builders, NEP 2020 underlines the long-term impact of teaching on national identity, democratic values, and socio-economic progress.

Teachers Beyond Content Delivery

Historically, teaching in India has been associated with the transmission of knowledge. However, NEP 2020 redefines the role of educators as facilitators of holistic growth. Teachers are entrusted with nurturing creativity, problem-solving abilities, and critical thinking skills rather than limiting their scope to rote memorization and examination preparation.
